The dreaded ‘F’ word...
FORECLOSURE!
Are you having trouble making your payments? Are you 1, 2, 3, 4 or more payments behind? Is your lender sending you warning letters or calling you... yet?
If so, you don’t need to panic, but what you definitely need to know is that TIME IS YOUR ENEMY! Because unlike other apparent problems, foreclosure is an obstacle that just does NOT go away by itself. You’re going to have to TAKE ACTION. And the sooner, the better.
It’s almost impossible to overstate the negative impact that a foreclosure can have on your life. Besides the mental, psychological, and emotional impact that a foreclosure can have on you, your spouse, and family... a foreclosure can have a very REAL impact on your credit rating and your ability to borrow money from ANYONE for a long period of time. A foreclosure generally stays on your credit report for at least 10 YEARS! Not only that, but any standard credit application usually asks if you have EVER had a foreclosure.
As unfortunate as it is, the plain fact is that most people who are on the path to foreclosure are in DENIAL. As a matter of fact, if you’re reading this page you may know someone personally (hint!) in this predicament. Sadly, the vast majority of people PROCRASTINATE in the HOPE that their prayers will be answered and that a miracle will intervene which will rescue them out of their situation…. which may have been no fault of their own. However, far too many people wait until right before the foreclosure sale before they wake up to the gravity of the situation. But by then, it’s usually too late for anyone to help them. They’re past the point of no return. A ‘Mortgage Foreclosure Sale’ of their home will be advertised in the local newspaper, and their house will be sold out from under them at the courthouse. They will have to move out of their house within about 10 days. Not only this, but their credit rating will be ruined for up to 10 years and they will probably move out empty-handed because they will rarely receive any cash for their equity... And it didn’t have to be that way. What a shame.
So, where does this leave you?... Well, you may be surprised to learn that you may have several options available to you. We may be able to help you find a way to keep your house... or if not, you may be better off selling your house to us. While we don’t give legal advice, if you want to learn more about your options, we would be happy to discuss them with you (We don’t bite). |
